Sustainability
Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Blackheath Primary School, we believe that caring for the planet is part of being a good global citizen. From the classroom to the playground, we teach our children the importance of protecting the environment and making responsible choices.
🌱 What Sustainability Means to Us
Sustainability is about looking after the world today so it’s still beautiful and healthy for future generations. We focus on:
-
Reducing waste
-
Saving energy
-
Recycling and reusing
-
Protecting nature
-
Encouraging eco-friendly habits
🌍 Learning for the Future
Sustainability is woven into our curriculum through:
-
Science lessons about the environment, animals, and weather
-
Art projects using recycled materials
-
Writing and storytelling about nature and the planet
-
Special themed weeks such as Earth Week and Plastic-Free July
👫 Getting Involved
We encourage everyone in our school community to take part:
-
Families can support by packing litter-free lunches and encouraging eco-friendly travel
-
Children take part in green initiatives and share their ideas
-
Staff model sustainable practices and bring real-world environmental issues into learning
